My Book List 2012

I’m going to keep a list of all the books I’ve read this year. So from January 2012 here’s my list:

Crimson China by Betsy Tobin
Thought-provoking cockle-picking drama.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
A proper old-fashioned page-turning, tear-jerker story.

A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan
Re-read as have been asked to come
to my sister-in-law’s book group as an honourary member to talk about the goons. We are planning to listen to the playlist. Should be fun!

Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman
Re-read bits for my book group. I appreciated the brilliance of the characters and the voice even more on second reading. Pity about the pigeon though.

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald

Pure by Andrew Miller

Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell

The Book Thief by Markus Kusak
Brilliant story that made me rethink the Holocaust

Djibouti by Elmore Leonard
Abandoned this book

The Marriage Plot by Jeffery
Captures being young and the time after graduating when you’ve a lot going on in your head but not so much in your life

How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
Some hilarious one-liners. I’m still laughing at the fanny-licking dog line. Good concept and easy to read.
